Fish Tank

It's like standing outside a fish tank
When my fish has got the flu
I want to tell him it will pass
I want to say I'll wait right here
But my yells will be too muffled
If I tap the glass, he'll hide
So I stand outside the fish tank,
And send my love inside.

Silence

Silence is the
Only force great enough
To hold
How much I love you

Caterpillar Gone

I can stop loving you
As a butterfly can return
To a caterpillar

In the first place, I don't want to
And in the second,

I've misplaced the cocoon.

Bruised

My feet have been bruised
For the last time
Kicking in doors
That were never mine

I am done walking highways
After midnight
And keeping track of tides
Other than my own

I proclaim freedom
From the current
If it flows the other way
Let another woman fight it

I am strong
I am worn
I am wise
I am done

Portrait

There is a portrait
On a wall
It's crooked
The portrait, not the wall

And all along I
Thought the world
Was flying, really
I've been falling

There is no wonderland
For there is no wander left
Once you've found that
Person in the portrait

It is crooked
The portrait, not the wall.

Bed Monster

There seems to be a monster
He lives beneath the bed
I'm told he is an aweful guy
And not just in my head

We haven't seen him in a while
I'd forgotten he was there
Until the night we let the light
Get dimmer than we dare

Beneath the bed, that is his home
Like a garden to a knomb
He isn't going to eat the shoes
He isn't going to watch the news

So what's his name, what's his game
And what's he want from me?
Nothing, not a single thing,
But keep us from feeling free.

Make A Choice

Because there is only so much unclaimed real estate within a person.
Like a VHS tape, will run out of space and need recorded over.
And sometimes the price for loving one is giving up loving another.
I commit to you, my breakfast mango, and will forgo the toast, today.

If only lunch could be so simple.
