Willow Trees

Benny was a lady from the inside in
All the town ninnys say he's livin' in sin
He run for the hills when they come with canes
And kept well hit till the summer rains

Fly friend fly, till you find your way
Higher then the place where the hatin' people play
Keep between the sea and the melting sun
For your wings of wax will surely run

Benny run aroud like a toad with a tail
Like a box-car done lost its rail
He found some place a time or two
Then run again when the sky turned blue

Fly friend fly, till you find your way
Higher then the place where the hatin' people play
Keep between the sea and the melting sun
For your wings of wax will surely run

Benny met a buddy at the world's end
It's a beer joint where the bad road bends
An' he kept a sittin' for a second round
The hatin' people come when your guard is down

Fly friend fly, till you find your way
Higher then the place where the hatin' people play
Keep between the sea and the melting sun
For your wings of wax will surely run

Benny got away, and he took to soar
He got up higher than he'd done before
Fell from the sky where the water's deep
The trees saw it all, now the willows still weep

Fly friend fly, till you find your way
Higher then the place where the hatin' people play
Keep between the sea and the melting sun
For your wings of wax will surely run
